Margarita Island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Venezuela. It is valuable because, without diminishing any of the many options offered by the Venezuelan Caribbean and the rest of the country, it is undoubtedly the best place for the tourism industry of Venezuela.
If you are looking for good beaches, Margarita is certainly a great option because all along its coast, beaches can be found in many different types according to the side of the island we are visiting.
On the east coast it is impossible not to stress on Playa El Agua and Playa Parguito, endless miles of sand, restaurants, bars and hotels and a really beautiful beach and where you can always find the right place to taste lunch as your pocket permits you too. The only thing that is desired from the place is that everyone has this care of the flow of the sea and are not be fooled by the apparent lack of depth. For it is part Parguito and is a meeting place for lovers of the surf because during most of the year waves reaching the coast are of a size and are optimum for playing the sport.
On this side of the island, we can see a few kilometers offshore, islands of Los Frailes, a great place to dive, but it’s better to go with someone who is familiar with the area, the currents are intense and involves some risk. It would be unfair not to mention that along with Guacuco Playa and El Tirano Cardón, beaches are very similar but less crowded than the water or at Parguito and complement the broad range of beaches on this side of the island, although there are many more we can say are the most significant.
On the north coast, beaches are generally deeper and thus the ocean water is colder. Open to the Caribbean and along a more rugged coast offers a view and a very different experience to which we mentioned earlier.
In this long coast, there is something for every taste, right from the fishing villages such as Manzanillo and Guayacan, to the small creeks of Costanza, the stunning beauty of Puerto Cruz and Puerto Escondido and solitude and comfort of neighboring Puerto Viejo, the beautiful and picturesque Pedro Gonzalez, a beach with no waves ideal for children, and their boulevard with very well equipped cottages and a perfect beach for families to visit during the week.
Down along the Caribbean coast, Playa, is a curious beach in a wedge appears to be two different beaches, with its small island a short distance and that can be relatively easy for walking and swimming and where the height of the tide allows it.
And towards the town of Juan Griego, one passes by the beach La Galera, where the ocean is really deep and very cold, but it is really beautiful and well worth a visit.
